Important Message for All Excite Email Subscribers,
After many years we have made the difficult decision to end Excite email operations for all Excite members effective August 31, 2021. After this date we will no longer offer, nor support, email services for our members. All email account information including emails, address books, calendars, notes, etc will be permanently removed from our servers and will no longer be available. Emails sent to excite email addresses will not be deliverable. Prior to the shutdown date of August 31, 2021 we recommend you do the following:
- If you do not have an alternate email address to use, create a new email account on a different service. You can find several free email providers, for instance gmail.com, yahoo.com and outlook.com are a few of the biggest, free email platforms. Should you choose, you may continue using your current email service by converting your Excite email account to a BlueTie premium email account. Learn more here: https://moreinfo.bluetiehome.com
- Notify your contacts that your email address will be changing and Excite will no longer be available. After this date emails sent to excite addresses will not be deliverable, nor will they be forwarded. An easy way to do this is to set up an “Out of Office Message” which you can turn on with a custom message to automatically notify anyone that emails you of the upcoming change in email address. For instructions on how to set this up, click here: https://support.excite.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402828199703
- Update any 3rd party sites that might use your excite.com email address with your new email address. For instance if you use your Excite email address as your recovery email for Facebook, etc, make sure you update these sites with a new email address prior to August 31, 2021.
- Migrate your emails, and contacts over to your new email provider prior to August 31, 2021. Any emails left on our Excite servers will be permanently deleted on September 1, 2021, and will not be recoverable. We recommend you migrate all emails and/or contacts that you want to save prior to this date. For those that choose to convert their @excite.com email addresses over to an @bluetiehome.com premium email address, there is no need to migrate your email data. While we are unable to provide guidance or assistance in migrating your emails, some email providers may offer tools for migrating your emails. For instance Gmail provides an easy to use tool that you can use to migrate your emails from Excite over to a Gmail account. You can find instructions for doing so here: https://www.howtogeek.com/436947/how-to-import-an-old-email-account-into-gmail/
Important note: Gmail's import feature uses POP3 functionality to import emails into Gmail. Unfortunately POP3 does not support import emails that are in folders, it will only import emails that are in the inbox.
Important note: the use of such import tools is at your own risk, and is outside of Excite’s ability to assist. We are unable to provide guidance on how to migrate your emails, calendar or contacts. Once the shutdown period has passed, we are unable to retrieve or restore any user data.
The Gmail import tool provides the easiest method for migrating your emails from your inbox over to a new email service, however you are not limited to Gmail alone. POP3/IMAP access to your account has been enabled to allow email migration to other providers such as Yahoo Email, or Outlook. Migrating using POP3/IMAP does require a bit more manual configuration so some technical knowledge is helpful. POP3/IMAP server information can be found here: https://support.excite.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403795426839
IMPORTANT NOTE: IMAP DOES support migrating emails in folders so this may be a good option for those who have a lot of emails sorted into several folders.
Once again, while we have provided tips for migration, as well as POP3/IMAP access, we are unable to provide individual account migration assistance.
Please reach out to our email provider directly for assistance or questions at support@bluetiehome.com
We understand this is a significant change, and have provided ample advance notice for you to make alternate email arrangements and to retrieve any historical email information you see fit. We regret any inconvenience this change may cause.
